Facing the Future with the Promises of Scripture

Melanie is back to offer sweet hope amidst the evil of our world these days. Her words are a comfort & her wisdom in the middle of intense turmoil is much needed. It’s a blessing to share Melanie with you on the blog today! Take heart and find hope here!

It’s crazy really.

We decided to turn a business trip into a vacation, planning to only be away for about a week.

During those 8 short days, all of the forces of evil and hell broke loose in our world.

Shootings. Threats of violence. Attacks on innocent celebrations. Uprisings. And more.

Things are getting crazy and chaotic in our world! We need hope and comfort as never before. Here are scriptures to give you strength, words of truth when you are dealing with fear, anxiety, and dread. Why not stop by to be refreshed today?

I don’t remember a time in recent history that’s felt more unstable or volatile.

It’s unconscionable.

It’s unbelievable.

It’s unsettling.

Maybe you’ve felt as overwhelmed as we have?

So, what do we do?

How do we respond?

How do we face the future with so much chaos and trouble brewing?

I know of no better place to turn than to the Bible.

It’s Timeless.

It’s Unchanging.

It’s Truth.

It’s God’s Word, and His words to us right now.

Things are getting crazy and chaotic in our world! We need hope and comfort as never before. Here are scriptures to give you strength, words of truth when you are dealing with fear, anxiety, and dread. Why not stop by to be refreshed today?

Here are 7 Bible Verses to Help You (and me) to Face the Future:

Promise 1 – 2 Samuel 22:2

As pressures mount and fear rises in our world, I love the reminder of today’s verse: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.” (2 Samuel 22:2)

A fortress is a place that’s protected against attack.

No matter what is going on around us, we can find great peace and protection as we press in close to our God — who is our rock, our fortress, & our deliverer!

Almighty God is our SAFE PLACE!

Promise 2 – Hebrews 13:5

‘for He [God] Himself has said, “I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”‘
(Hebrews 13:5, AMPC)

In the middle of chaos and uncertainty, we can focus on what is certain & true. Here is one of those certain truths that we can look to:

A psalm of David. “The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” (Psalm 27:1, NLT)

Promise 5 – Psalm 94:19

Ever have one of those nights when you can’t sleep? Your mind is buzzing and won’t shut down? I had one of those last night!

The psalmist understood this issue in Psalm 94:19: “In the multitude of my anxieties within me,Your comforts delight my soul.”

His anxieties are multiplying and spreading out like branches on a tree. In this moment, he turns to the Lord, and he finds incredible comfort to delight his soul.

If you are anxious today, why not take your cares to the One who offers ultimate comfort?

Promise 8 {bonus!} – Psalm 37:7

“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.” Psalm 37:7a

About once a month I’ll share this verse. Seems that I don’t wait too patently! Anyone else ever feel like me?

In the Bible, God used “waiting” to prepare people for great adventures. Waiting seems to be one of God’s preferred methods of training, conditioning, and teaching us.

So, if you are waiting today… Perhaps God is just getting you prepped and ready for something really amazing!!

And, can I remind you of something that gives me hope no matter what is going on in this world?

God is still on the throne and in complete control. He is not wringing His hands! He is not pacing the corridors of heaven in fear! He is Lord.

Be encouraged today, Friends. We serve an awesome God who is keeping a close eye on all that is happening in our world.

  3. To see how God’s Word still provides the fullest hope and the greatest comfort even today in 2016, leaves me even more awestruck of our unfailing God! No matter the depth of the darkness, His Word will always provide His hope. A hope no darkness can conquer!
