I was always anxious as a child. Always.
My parents frequently remind me of the many times I called them into my room late at night, fearful of the silliest things that didn’t seem so silly when I was eight.
They would hold me, pray with me, sing over me, and remind me of Truth.
Ever since those fearful nights, I have come to realize something incredibly important.
In times of fear and anxiety, it is essential to have solid Scripture in your back pocket to calm and comfort. When you’re angry or bitter, you need Truth to equip and challenge you. When you’re uncertain or doubtful, grab hold of the Word and don’t let go.
This powerful tool doesn’t come easily. It will only come with meaningful study of God’s Word designed to help you remember Truth.
The Bible tells us that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, ESV)
We must be hiding the Word in our hearts.
We must be laying hold of the powerful tool God has given us in His Word – a tool with the ability to teach, correct, train, and equip for all of God’s work.
We must be made complete by filling ourselves with the Word.
Did you catch that? “…that the man of God may be complete.”
Memorizing Scripture is important. And this is why I don’t believe there is a method that will offer “five quick steps to memorize Scripture.” Rather, I invite you to engage with the process & choose to be diligent. Choose to devote time each day to the study and memorization of the Bible.
Would you walk with me over to Melanie Redd’s blog? It’s there that I talk about the best way to memorize Scripture & actually remember it!
