Blogging is an art and a science. I’m convinced.
If you’ve been blogging for very long, you understand this. Yes, there’s the artsy writing, picture-making, and designing. But there’s also the science behind social media scheduling, networking, and SEO.
It can make the brain feel a little crazy at times.
When I started blogging six months ago, I had no expertise, little experience, minimal finances, but ample enthusiasm. I had a vision and a dream – spreading truth & grace in abundance through words. The problem? I really didn’t know what I was doing.
My husband is a tech wiz, so I was able to rely on him for help with website design, WordPress plugins, html coding – you know, the fundamentals. But social media, SEO, and networking were left up to me. It was a little scary for the first few months.
Until I was introduced to Christian Bloggers Bootcamp.
This place was a haven for my inexperience and many questions. Networking became easy, because I was surrounded by women with similar goals, desires, and values. I learned valuable information about developing a mission and a vision. I never doubted that someone would have an answer if I found myself in a bind. This group made blogging incredibly fun.
I learned more than I could possibly share in one post, but here are several highlights.
1. I learned that I am not alone.
As a Christian blogger, I often wondered if I would ever find people who truly understood what I was doing. Yes, I blog because it’s fun. But I also blog because I want people to experience a taste of Jesus on my little nook of the web. The bloggers of Christian Bloggers Bootcamp understand this. They encourage this. They want to do the same thing.
2. I learned that images matter more than I thought.
Pinterest is a game-changer for bloggers. If you want to use this game-changer correctly, you must understand the importance of image quality. I learned how to make images, how to use Pinterest, and how to drive traffic to my site through this unbelievably fun social media outlet.
3. I learned that blogging is about so much more than writing posts.
Writing posts matters, obviously. But if you write an awesome post and let it sit on your blog, not much will happen. You must market. Before I took this course, I didn’t know how to market effectively. I didn’t know you could schedule social media, share on multiple outlets at once, or have a sharing schedule. These skills make blogging much easier!
4. I learned that I can blog about my faith intentionally.
Before Christian Bloggers Bootcamp, I had a sliver of fear in my heart that blogging about my faith would fail. This is just. not. true. I was encouraged & prodded to understand why I am blogging, what I want to say, and how to say it best. Now, I write with confidence knowing that I have a tribe of women who support my work – and a God who will not let me fall.
I learned a lot while working my way through the 6-module course. You work at your own pace, so soak in every word. You never lose access to the information, so in six months when you need encouragement, open up module one again. Whether you just started your blog or have been blogging for ten years, this course will bless you.
Oh, and look at my traffic increase below. I started blogging in the middle of June 2015. For a few months, I had a steady stream of 50-80 visitors a day. At the end of August, I signed up for Christian Bloggers Bootcamp. In mid-September, I began seeing traffic in the 300’s and 400’s. Yep, that’s a 501% increase in about a month’s time.
That’s how this course works.
It’s effective. It’s worth it.
