Christmas is my favorite time of year – white lights and warm sweaters and way too much hot tea. I sit in front of the fireplace next to our humble tree and feel like all is right with the world.
I never want to rush Christmas. Instead, I want to soak it all up and pray that it would never end. But so often, I attribute those feelings to the cozy blankets, long days in PJ’s and cookie-making.
I fail to remember that Christmas is rooted in hope and unconditional love, freedom and sweet peace. We serve a God who broke into the world in human flesh so that we could feel all of those things – the hope, love, freedom, peace.
He came into the world for so much more than stockings and gifts.
He came into the world so that we could live redeemed.
This season – my favorite time of year that is coming all too quickly – I want to remember the real reason for the season. I want to fill my mind with the hope, love, freedom, and peace given to me freely by the God who didn’t have to save my soul in the first place. He wanted to save me, to make me new and loved and forgiven.
How can we remember Him? How can we make Christmas all about Christ this year?
Walk with me to Melanie Redd’s blog where I share eight ways to make much of Christ this season with our holiday traditions. Before you head over, I want to tell you that this woman is dear to me. She loves me so well, so completely. She writes with beautiful insight and clear wisdom. So, when you stop by her blog, love on her well for me, okay?
