When You’re Ready to be Bold for Jesus

I have this habit of becoming a scared chicken when it’s time to be bold.

There. That’s like a weight lifted from heavy shoulders. This blog is about being bold for Christ, about becoming a warrior and digging deep and letting our real show.

And I just have to say that I am downright awful at living that out most days.

It’s the message of my heart – a big passionate message that God has given me, I do believe. I believe that He’s given me this message because He knows I need to grow in this area myself.

In my weakness, Christ is strong.

Are you ready to be bold for Jesus? To be brave in faith - trusting God totally? Here are two essential things for you to remember, as well as an admission about my own weak faith. So, let's begin being bold for Jesus today!

So, as I write to you about boldness and authenticity, living for Christ and being warriors for the kingdom, know that I am walking right with you. Beside you – not ahead of you.

In my mind, I am confident, fierce, and relentless in the pursuit to make the name of Jesus known.

Until the moment when I’m supposed to shine the brightest. Then I chicken out.

It’s a habit, and it’s once I must break.

And in the journey to discovering boldness, bravery, and living from my true self, I believe that God has shown me the sweetest message about being ready to be bold for Jesus.

I can’t be about people while living for people & I can’t seek approval from God and approval from man.

I Can’t Be About People While Living For People

Our calling is to make disciples of all nations, to spread the name of Christ, and to live bold for His purposes.

The problem is this: too often I find myself living for people rather than being about them.

I’m about people when I admit my weakness.
I’m about people when I enter into their mess.
I’m about people when I don’t shy away from confrontation.
I’m about people when I live in the confidence given my by Christ.

Rather then…

Being afraid people will judge my weakness.
Being afraid people will get angry at my efforts.
Being afraid people will mock my purpose & spit at my passions.
Being more afraid of the opinions of others than the future for their soul.

When I’m able to get over my fear & enter into life about other people, I give up seeking approval from them.

And oh, what freedom that brings to be bold for Christ!

I Can’t Seek Approval from God & Approval from Man

It’s important to regularly ask ourselves whose approval we’re seeking.

Because, let’s face it, it’s all too easy to seek approval from man.

To live for acceptance, love, honor, pride, a name, a title, a position, a dream.

And yet, our purpose is so much greater than any title or position this side of heaven could grant us. Do you believe that?

Oh, dear friend, I pray that you do.

I pray that you find acceptance in who you are to Christ, in how much He loves you, and in the mission He’s given you to do here on earth.

Maybe it’s mothering, or blogging, or wifeing, or preaching.
Maybe it’s teaching, encouraging, baking, or writing.
Maybe it’s studying, or cleaning, or resting.

You have a mission. Seek approval from God doing that thing, rather than seeking a name and a position for yourself on earth.

Your future glory awaits you. And that is a precious promise.

Are you ready to be bold for Jesus? To be brave in faith - trusting God totally? Here are two essential things for you to remember, as well as an admission about my own weak faith. So, let's begin being bold for Jesus today!

Today & tomorrow & for the rest of forever, I’m choosing to remember these two things when I’d rather be a scared chicken.

I’m choosing to remember that…

  1. I can’t be about people while living for people.
  2. I can’t seek approval from God & approval from man.

Would you join me in taking the next step of boldness? It doesn’t have to be a big step. It just needs to be a step.

A step that is reliant on God and all about His people.

  1. It’s a challenge, isn’t it, to continue to only seek the approval of God!
People can be so loud and critical. It’s easy to put our focus back on them.
Thanks for a great reminder today, Alison, to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus!

    1. Thanks, Melanie. It’s so true. Fixing our eyes on Jesus is the only thing that can save & protect us from seeking the approval of others!

  2. It took me way too long to stop living for people. And I have to admit, I still relapse. But by God’s grace, I will be about people and glorifying God. That’s my heart’s desire. Thanks for putting it so beautifully! Blessings!

    1. Oh, Deb, I relapse too. Quickly. But I agree with you – it’s my hearts desire to be about glorifying my Savior first and foremost. So I will fight against the relapse! 🙂
