Many of my thoughts these days are about the future of our country.

These thoughts range from fear to anger to anxiety. The future is unsure and seems to be incredibly insecure.

And I wake up burdened.

And I go to sleep burdened.

Are you having trouble overcoming anxiety about the future of our country? Thoughts of coping with the realities of the future can leave us feeling downright worried. Thankfully, we serve a God who provides hope through Scripture and truth. Read here for comforting truths to cling to when you're anxious about the future of our country!

We are in a long & drawn-out season of waiting on the Lord, and it’s becoming harder and harder to simply be still.

To wait. To rest. To trust.

Maybe you’re like me and you’re wondering what in the world is happening around us.

Maybe you also wake up burdened. Maybe you also feel fear. Maybe you also mourn for the unsure & insecure future.

I heard something the other day that stopped me.

“If you know that in the end all will be sanctified, you can be patient now.”

That truth hit like a punch in the gut and convicted me of all of this fear, anxiety, anger, and questioning I feel.

Am I trusting that all will be sanctified? Do I believe in God’s plan, purposes, and future? Do I even know how to trust God with our country?

Friends, the answer to that question is no.

I struggle on a daily basis to believe that the future of this world is secure.

I believe so much more in the plans of my own heart.

If you’re like me, you need to hear that truth on repeat. Over and over again. So, let me say it again here.

“If you know that in the end all will be sanctified, you can be patient now.”

What a truth to cling to in those moments of fear, anxiety, and insecurity. Our future is secure. Our future has been bought with a price. Our future is orchestrated by the God who created the universe in the first place.

And in moments of fear & anxiety about the future of our world, we can believe that

  1. All things happen for God’s glory.

Noah built an ark for God’s glory.

The Israelites were rescued from Egypt for God’s glory.

Ester became queen for God’s glory.

Gideon fought and won with 300 men for God’s glory.

As a virgin, Mary became pregnant for God’s glory.

Jesus lived a sinless life of God’s glory.

This list could go on and on…

All for God’s glory.

The upcoming events of our country will work out for God’s glory.

  1. We may not understand the reason, but we can witness the results.

My pastor said this the other day and I couldn’t help but smile. How many times have I questioned the Lord’s reasoning, only to witness unimaginable results?

We may not understand the reason for a certain outcome, event, season, or experience. We may never understand the reason.

But friend? We can stand on the sidelines and witness the results. What an honor.

  1. Jesus stands beside us as we mourn for the world.

We are not alone in our sorrow for this country, this world, the broken, the hurting, or the confused.

We are not alone as we doubt God’s plan and fear, question and cry.

The Lord stands beside us. The Lord feels our pain, understands our hurts, and addresses our sorrows.

Dear Christian, we serve a God who chooses to walk beside us. And as we mourn for the future of this country, God is mourning right along beside us.

  1. Our future is secure.

And yet, in light of the mourning and the fear, our future is secure. Kingdom glory awaits!

Jesus died for that future.

God has been preparing a place for us.

We’ve been washed and redeemed so that our future stands secure.

No event in history could change our outcome. No election. No famine. No recession. No stock market crash. No death. No eviction. No illness.

Nothing can separate us from the God who has made our future stand secure.

As we await in anxious expectation to see what our future holds, let us remember that God is in control.

“If you know that in the end all will be sanctified, you can be patient now.”

Say that statement with fervor and strength, because it’s true in so many capactities.

We can be patient because of our future glory.

We can be patient because God is in control of the results.

We can be patient because God gets all the glory.

We can be patient because ALL will be sanctified.

Hallelujah. What a Savior!
